Police authorities in the Bahamas have provided a significant update following the disappearance of a woman in the Abaco Islands during a boat excursion over the Easter holiday period.
Lynette Hooker, aged 55, was declared missing on Saturday night after falling into the waters of the Abaco Islands while on a boat journey. She was on an 8-foot motorboat traveling from Hope Town to Elbow Cay when she went missing.
Extensive search efforts, including marine, land, and aerial searches, were conducted, with additional assistance from drones and professional divers.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force released a statement early this morning, stating that a 59-year-old American man was apprehended in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, shortly after 7 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He is currently under interrogation in connection with the case.
The arrest is linked to the disappearance of a female individual who was reported missing from an 8-foot dinghy en route to Elbow Cay on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation.
