“Amity Beach to Make Way for New ‘Launchpad’ at Thorpe Park”

Date:

Thorpe Park has announced that a section of the park known for its popularity during the summer season will not be reopening in 2026. The park revealed in a social media post the introduction of “The Launchpad” as the replacement for the existing area, Amity Beach. The Launchpad is described as a recharge zone for thrillseekers to rest and refuel between rides, recognizing the importance of providing a space for visitors to rejuvenate.

Amity Beach, which first opened in 1991 and offered a simulated beach experience with a paddling pool and splash park, will undergo changes with the larger portion closing while a smaller section remains open for families. Additionally, the popular waterslide attraction, Depth Charge, will be returning for the 2026 season.

Thorpe Park shared nostalgic images of Amity Beach, showcasing past events and notable guests such as Princess Diana and Prince Harry enjoying the rides. The new Launchpad area features seating areas, shaded spots, and a vibrant design, situated near some of the park’s major rollercoasters.

Having opened in 1979, Thorpe Park introduced Hyperia in 2024 as the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster. The park boasts other thrill rides like Stealth, The Swarm, SAW-The Ride, Nemesis Inferno, and Colossus. The 2026 season at Thorpe Park is set to commence on March 27, with tickets priced from £32 for individuals over 1.2 meters tall when purchased online in advance. Children under 1.2 meters can enter for free. The park also offers overnight accommodations at the Thorpe Shark Cabins, including a stay for up to four people, two days at the park, free parking, and a buffet breakfast.
