Daughter of Notorious Killer Ian Huntley Refuses Involvement

Date:

A request from the police asking if she wanted to contribute to her father, Ian Huntley’s, funeral left his daughter feeling disgusted.

Ian Huntley gained notoriety in the UK as a murderer convicted for the killings of ten-year-old friends Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells in Soham, Cambridgeshire in 2002. Serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 40 years, he faced several violent incidents while in prison.

One such incident occurred in 2005 when Huntley was scalded with boiling water in HMP Wakefield. In a separate attack in 2010, he suffered a slash wound to the throat. The latter attack, orchestrated by Damien Fowkes, resulted in severe injuries, including skull fractures and brain damage.

Fowkes, who also killed fellow inmate Colin Hatch, attacked Huntley at HMP Frankland in Durham, leading to fatal injuries. Huntley was found in critical condition after being assaulted with a metal bar and later died in the hospital. The main suspect in the attack is Anthony Russell.

During a meeting with police officers, Huntley’s daughter Samantha expressed her disinterest in being involved in his funeral arrangements or receiving his ashes. She adamantly stated that she wanted no part in honoring her father, emphasizing his lack of deserving a dignified funeral.

Legal expert Paul Hewitt highlighted the complexities of managing financial and estate matters for individuals like Huntley who are incarcerated for life. He emphasized the challenges of accessing financial advisors for prisoners handling their affairs from inside the prison.

The inquest into Huntley’s death is set to commence soon, with the funeral arrangements remaining unclear at this time.
