“Montreal Roses Part Ways with Inaugural Head Coach”

Date:

The Montreal Roses have decided to part ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, made the announcement in a press release on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his contribution to establishing the professional women’s soccer club.

Acknowledging the difficulty of such a decision, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh perspective to navigate the remainder of the season and drive the club’s progress. Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season.

Robert Rositoiu was appointed as head coach in September 2024 in anticipation of the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
