Tiger Woods, aged 50, has reportedly entered a not guilty plea following an arrest stemming from a rollover crash involving two vehicles in Florida. The renowned golfer, a 15-time major champion, is facing charges related to driving under the influence causing property damage and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
The incident occurred when Woods attempted to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, resulting in his dark SUV overturning. Despite registering a 0.00 on a breathalyzer test, he declined to undergo a urinalysis. Subsequently, Woods was confined to Martin County Jail for the mandatory eight-hour period before being released to return home.
Initial reports of Woods’ plea came from TMZ, featuring lawyer Douglas Duncan as his legal representative. This development coincided with comments made by former President Donald Trump to the New York Post regarding Woods’ condition, where he expressed optimism about Woods’ well-being and highlighted the athlete’s ongoing physical challenges.
Addressing the incident, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek clarified that suspicions of alcohol involvement were dispelled after Woods tested negative on the breathalyzer. However, Woods’ refusal to submit to a urinalysis led to the DUI charges, alongside property damage accusations.
The circumstances unraveled after a rollover crash was reported to the Jupiter Island Police Department, prompting their collaboration with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office due to the complexity of the situation. Woods, identified as the driver of the overturned vehicle, displayed signs of impairment, leading to his arrest and subsequent transfer to Martin County Jail for processing.
Despite the crash, no injuries were reported, with both Woods and the other individual involved escaping unharmed. Budensiek emphasized the thoroughness of the investigation, taking into account Woods’ previous injuries and surgeries while enforcing the necessary legal procedures.
