Maverick figure Donald Trump hurriedly replaced the natural lawn in the White House garden with fake grass to accommodate Easter events, following the removal of the original grass several months ago.
Last year, President Trump had the grass substituted with cement and stone tiles due to concerns about the lawn being problematic for women in high heels during rainy weather. However, as Easter events approached, including a story time activity for families, the administration felt the Rose Garden needed adjustments.
In preparation for the celebrations, the team quickly laid down artificial grass strips beneath rows of white benches where families gathered for story time.
This incident follows a setback for Mr. Trump as a federal judge ruled against his authority on a significant project, the construction of a White House ballroom, prompting a halt to the work.
Despite its historical significance dating back to the Kennedys, President Trump made substantial alterations to the Rose Garden, citing safety concerns during press conferences as a reason for the redesign.
The garden underwent significant changes, with the removal of iconic elements like the Kennedys’ crabapple trees and the installation of concrete pavers and patio furniture reminiscent of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
The White House emphasized that these renovations were essential to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the People’s House in anticipation of the nation’s 250th independence anniversary.
