The latest rankings of the top waterparks worldwide have been released, featuring a diverse selection of thrilling aquatic attractions. Among the top three, Brits have an accessible option that doesn’t involve long-distance travel.
Leading the list is Universal Orlando Volcano Bay in the USA, followed by Thermas dos Laranjais in Brazil, a popular destination for visitors globally. The third spot is claimed by AREA 47, a European waterpark nestled in the scenic Tyrol region of Austria, known more for its skiing than water-based activities.
AREA 47 stands out for offering over 40 outdoor water attractions, including an inflatable obstacle course on a natural lake, a daring diving tower, and Europe’s steepest waterslide with a 70° slope. Adventure seekers can also experience Blobbing and the Cannonball, unique activities that promise an adrenaline rush.
Operating seasonally from mid-May to October, AREA 47 caters to thrill-seekers looking for outdoor adventures amidst picturesque mountain landscapes. Apart from water-based activities, visitors can enjoy amenities like a beach bar, sun loungers, climbing walls, mountain biking trails, and wakeboarding facilities.
The rankings, compiled by AttractionTickets.com, highlighted the success of American and European waterparks, while the UK’s offerings did not make it to the top ten. The highest-ranking UK waterpark was Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool, securing the 14th spot with attractions like the indoor roller coaster waterslide, Masterblaster.
Following closely at number 15 is Alton Towers Waterpark, a year-round destination offering a mix of indoor and outdoor water fun. Part of the Alton Towers theme park, it features high-speed slides like Rampage and Rush, along with family-friendly attractions such as Wacky Waterworks and Calypso Creek.
