The Vancouver Rise claimed a convincing 5-1 victory over the Ottawa Rapid in a Northern Super League match in Ottawa. Alex Lamontagne shined in her Vancouver debut, scoring twice, while Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes (on a penalty shot) also found the net for the Rise. The visiting team dominated the second half, scoring four goals, including three in a quick 10-minute burst early on.
Despite Elise Bell pulling one back for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, Jessica Wulf’s shutout bid was thwarted. The Rise’s strong performance propelled them to fourth place in the league, surpassing the Halifax Tide by a single point. Their record now stands at seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, totaling 22 points.
On the other hand, the Ottawa Rapid, who sit at the top of the table with 33 points, suffered their fourth defeat of the season. The Rise showcased their dominance by maintaining a 53% possession advantage and outshooting the Rapid 17-8, with 11 shots on target compared to the hosts’ 3.
The Vancouver squad also secured four of the seven corner kicks in the game, with both teams receiving two yellow cards each. Looking ahead, the Rise will face the Calgary Wild on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid is set to visit AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
