WhatsApp users are in for a significant update as Meta’s messaging platform is rolling out a dedicated Apple Watch app. This new app aims to streamline messaging by allowing users to send messages and respond to chats directly from their wrist, eliminating the need to reach for their smartphones.
Although WhatsApp notifications have been available on the Apple Watch for years, their functionality was limited, with users only able to view message snippets. With the new app, users can now access full messages, reply with emojis, and send voice memos, mirroring the experience on other devices like smartphones and tablets.
The update introduces several new features, including call notifications, the ability to read full messages, send voice messages, react with emojis, enjoy a better media experience with clear images and stickers, and view more chat history on the screen. WhatsApp promises to enhance the Apple Watch experience further in the future while ensuring that messages and calls remain private with end-to-end encryption.
It is important to note that the new WhatsApp Apple Watch app is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or later, running watchOS 10 or later. Although the app is not yet available at the time of writing, its release is anticipated in the coming days.
