“UK Politician Liz Truss Stirs Controversy at CPAC USA”

Date:

British politician Liz Truss made a controversial trip to the United States, covering a distance of 5,000 miles to criticize her own country while positioning herself as a British equivalent to Donald Trump. This move stirred up a wave of criticism, with calls for her expulsion from the Conservative Party by fellow party member Kemi Badenoch. Truss’s portrayal of the UK as an authoritarian state overrun by Islamists and globalists at the pro-Trump CPAC conference in Texas raised eyebrows and led to comparisons to the former US president.

Truss expressed her desire to initiate a “MAGA movement” in the UK, rebranding it as “MEGA – Make England Great Again.” When questioned by the Mirror at the conference about her intentions to lead the movement and her aspirations to mirror Trump’s approach, Truss evaded direct answers, maintaining a smile while walking away.

Critics, including Daisy Cooper from the Liberal Democrats, condemned Truss for her negative rhetoric about the UK and her plans to import divisive elements of US politics. Cooper emphasized the economic challenges caused by Truss in the past and called for her expulsion from the Conservative Party for fueling populist divisions.

Additionally, Truss announced plans to host the first CPAC conference in London in July and was revealed to be listed as a director of CPAC London Ltd, a newly registered UK company. The absence of Donald Trump at this year’s CPAC USA conference, with a lineup of lesser-known Trump administration figures, raised speculation about his priorities and potential backlash from supporters.

Attendees at the CPAC conference echoed sentiments of concern over the UK, with some expressing beliefs in misinformation about the country’s situation, particularly regarding Islamification and Sharia Law. Truss’s accusations against “globalist elites” and her call for a revolution against the current power structure in the UK sparked debate and controversy among political circles.

Truss’s statements about the need for a movement akin to MAGA in the UK and her criticisms of mainstream media and political establishments emphasized her push for significant changes in the country’s governance. Her focus on countering perceived threats to traditional values and sovereignty resonated with some attendees and raised questions about the direction of British politics in the future.
