The Met Office has officially predicted snow over the Easter weekend. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly in the upcoming days, with a potential of feeling as cold as -7C due to cold air moving in from the west. Weather maps from Metdesk indicate the likelihood of snow across various regions of the UK.
The Met Office, known as the UK’s national weather and climate service, has announced that some areas in the UK may experience snow on Good Friday. Meteorologist Alex Burkill mentioned in a YouTube video that there is a chance of a deepening low-pressure system affecting northeastern Scotland, bringing strong winds up to 75mph and significant rainfall, along with snowfall of around 400mm.
The heaviest snow is expected in Scotland, especially in the Scottish Highlands, but there is a possibility of snowfall reaching as far south as Staffordshire and parts of Wales during the Easter weekend. Rain is forecasted for other regions, particularly in western parts of the UK like Cumbria and south Wales.
Last week, temperatures soared above 20C in west Wales, but they are set to plummet in the coming days, making it feel as cold as -7C in certain areas by Sunday morning. Windy conditions are expected throughout the weekend, with westerly gales affecting regions such as the Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines, and parts of mid and north Wales.
However, there are indications that temperatures will rise again and winds will calm down after Monday. Greater London, Kent, and Essex are expected to be the warmest regions by the end of next week.
