“Manitoba Premier Urges Boycott of American Liquor Amid Trade Negotiations”

Date:

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew advises consumers to refrain from purchasing American liquor if it reappears on Canadian store shelves. Negotiations between Canadian and U.S. officials aim to prevent new U.S. tariffs on approximately $30 billion worth of Canadian goods. Prime Minister Mark Carney and his team discussed this potential agreement with cabinet members and provincial leaders. According to Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston, Carney urged provinces to reintroduce American alcohol in stores. However, Kinew mentioned during a press briefing that Manitoba has not yet agreed to this proposal. If Manitoba decides to restock U.S. products at Liquor Marts as part of the trade deal, Kinew suggests that Canadians boycott these items and opt for Canadian alternatives instead. Kinew emphasized the importance of sending a message that reflects disapproval of Donald Trump’s trade tactics and treatment of Canada.
