Japan’s Miyu Yamashita clinched victory at the CPKC Women’s Open in a commanding fashion. The 25-year-old golfer secured her fourth LPGA Tour win and second of the year with a stellar performance at the Royal Mayfair Club in Edmonton. Yamashita carded a solid 4-under-par 66 in the final round, finishing at an impressive 23 under in the $2.75-million event.
Maintaining a six-stroke lead after three rounds, Yamashita triumphed by a comfortable nine-shot margin over her fellow Japanese competitor, Yuri Yoshida, who finished at 14 under. Vancouver’s Anna Huang delivered a strong 5-under 65 to end the tournament at 12 under, sharing the fourth spot as the top Canadian player. Calgary amateur Aphrodite Deng closed with a 69, concluding at 11 under.
Two-time champion Brooke Henderson from Smiths Falls, Ontario, carded an even-par 70 in the last round, finishing at 7 under. The upcoming LPGA event, the FM Championship at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, is set to kick off this Thursday.
