“Woman Loses 12 Stone Naturally, Inspires Others”

After struggling with weight issues since childhood, a woman made a decision to shed pounds when she reached 320lbs, eventually losing 12 stone without resorting to surgery or weight-loss injections. Jessica Beniquez, 30, embarked on her weight-loss journey in 2016 post-school and managed to reach her current weight of approximately 10.7 stone (150lbs) by 2018, maintaining her progress ever since.

According to Jessica, the most challenging aspect of her transformation was not the physical weight loss but rather the mental shift in self-perception. She shared, “I shed the excess weight years ago, yet at times, I still view myself as the girl on a weight-loss journey. That self-image lingers with you.”

Jessica had battled with being overweight throughout her educational years. She expressed, “I eventually reached a breaking point where I said, ‘Enough, I refuse to continue feeling this way.’ I ended up shedding over 170lbs (77kg) naturally.

Reflecting on her weight-loss journey, Jessica highlighted that her success was not due to pharmaceutical aids or surgical procedures. She emphasized, “It wasn’t through medications like Ozempic or weight-loss surgeries; I’m not discrediting those methods. What truly worked for me was maintaining a calorie deficit and engaging in regular exercise.”

Presently, Jessica dedicates six days a week to workout sessions. She revealed, “For years, my online presence revolved around weight loss. Even now, individuals comment with encouragements like, ‘Keep pushing, you’re on the right track.’ While I appreciate the support, my focus now is not on losing more weight but on sustaining my progress.”

Jessica acknowledged the struggle of being entrenched in a “weight-loss identity” and how challenging it can be to break free from it. She explained, “During the formative years of being overweight, one’s self-concept solidifies. Despite significant changes, that version of myself will always be a part of my narrative.”

Her social media profiles chronicle her entire journey, from initial struggles to the healthy lifestyle she maintains today. Jessica now serves as a coach, offering guidance on fitness, balance, and body positivity.

Expressing her passion for aiding others in enhancing their lives, Jessica remarked, “While working in this field, there’s often an expectation to constantly chase new weight-loss objectives, but that’s not my current focus.”

Instead of fixating on achieving an ultra-slim figure, Jessica now prioritizes consistency over a specific number on the scale. She clarified, “My aim nowadays is not to become extremely thin. That may have been the aspiration years ago, but not anymore. My objective now is merely to prioritize self-care and engage in activities that promote well-being.”
