“Anthony Joshua Hospitalized After Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria”

Date:

Anthony Joshua is currently hospitalized following a car crash in Nigeria that resulted in the death of two individuals. Reports indicate that the former heavyweight champion was involved in a collision between a Jeep he was traveling in and a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in southwest Nigeria.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua sustained minor injuries in the accident. Hearn, who was on vacation in the Caribbean at the time, mentioned that Joshua was en route to the hospital and provided limited details about the incident.

According to a local news outlet, Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle during the accident and suffered minor injuries. The report stated that Joshua was part of a two-car convoy consisting of a Pajero SUV and a Lexus SUV, with his security team traveling in a separate vehicle behind them.

An eyewitness described the sequence of events, mentioning that Joshua was seated behind the driver in the Lexus SUV, which also had two other occupants. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the crash, including the passenger beside the driver and the person seated next to Joshua.

The local police are currently investigating the incident, with The Times reporting that Joshua’s vehicle veered into the truck after a tire blowout led to loss of control. Eyewitness images depicted Joshua standing, and local authorities confirmed that the 36-year-old boxer is in stable condition despite sustaining minor injuries.

Joshua, who was in Nigeria, had recently shared a story on his Instagram page showing him playing table tennis before the crash. The 36-year-old had been recovering from an exhibition fight in Miami, Florida, where he defeated Jake Paul. Following the win, Joshua hinted at a potential showdown with Tyson Fury in the future.

Both Joshua and Fury have engaged in a long-standing verbal feud, with speculations suggesting a potential fight under the management of Riyadh Season and Turki Alalshikh. Joshua’s call-out to Fury after his recent victory indicated his eagerness to face his heavyweight rival in the coming years.
