In a tragic incident, a 3-year-old boy passed away after wandering away from his home during the night and was discovered in a river.
The child, whose identity remains undisclosed, left his residence in the early hours of Monday, April 13, and was last spotted near a school around midnight in New London, Wisconsin. Authorities did not specify the exact school where the boy was found in their recent update.
He was located in the river at approximately 7:17 am local time on the same day and was taken to a medical facility where medical professionals confirmed his demise. The duration the boy spent in the water was unknown, as per the police statement.
It was suspected that the young boy had wandered about four blocks away from home after his father’s last check on him around midnight. His disappearance was reported just before 5 am, and he was found a little over two hours later, then rushed to the hospital. By around 11:30 am local time, authorities announced the tragic news of the boy’s passing.
John Faucher, the proprietor of a local store, witnessed a significant police presence in New London, Wisconsin, following an Amber alert. Faucher mentioned observing drones and numerous law enforcement vehicles from different agencies in the area near the middle school early in the morning.
The New London Police Department posted on Monday: “3 YEAR OLD BOY MISSING FROM 1000 BLOCK OF W BEACON AVE NEW LONDON, 3 FT TALL, BROWN HAIR, BROWN EYES, LAST SEEN WEARING ORANGE CHICAGO BEARS SHIRT AND DIAPER, LAST SEEN NEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL NEAR MIDNIGHT.”
In a subsequent update, the police department informed: “He has been located!! Thank you everyone for sharing.”
ABC2 reported that the child was discovered upstream, and the exact location where he entered the river remained unclear. Speculation arose that he may have entered the river near his residence and been carried by the current.
Numerous residents utilized the police force’s Facebook page to spread awareness about the missing boy. Some individuals claimed to have actively searched during the period the boy was reported missing.
