Bodycam footage recorded the moment Robert Bush was apprehended on a plane during an investigation into his funeral home. The arrest occurred on March 10, 2024, shortly after the discovery of over 30 bodies at the Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull. Humberside Police released the bodycam footage, showing Bush being approached by officers while seated on an American Airlines flight that had just landed at London Heathrow.
In the video, as officers moved through the plane’s aisle, a flight attendant instructed passengers to remain seated. The lead officer stopped at Bush’s row and asked him to stand up and accompany them outside, to which Bush, visibly surprised, complied after gathering his belongings. He was then informed of his arrest on suspicion of various offenses, including preventing a lawful burial, fraud by false representation, and fraud by abuse of position, according to reports from Hull Live.
Bush, aged 48 and previously from Kirk Ella but recently residing in Otley, West Yorkshire, served as the director of Legacy Independent Funeral Directors. During a court appearance, Bush changed his pleas on multiple charges related to preventing decent burials and theft from charities. Previously, he had denied these charges but admitted to other fraud-related offenses. Following his guilty pleas, the trial scheduled for October was canceled, and Bush’s sentencing hearing is expected to occur in July.
