Luke Littler has acknowledged that he has not yet engaged in a conversation with Gian van Veen to resolve their recent disagreement. The confrontation between the two occurred during the ninth night of the Premier League in Manchester three weeks ago.
Following a controversial victory by Van Veen over the two-time world champion, he accused Littler of provocatively celebrating towards the audience after missing crucial darts. Since then, their relationship has remained strained, with Littler confirming that they are still not communicating.
Littler stated, “No, we have not spoken, but I am not inclined to initiate a discussion with him. Perhaps he expects me to approach him first, but that is not my style. Even in the practice room, others usually initiate conversations with me. I am not one to engage in idle chatter.”
He added that they could settle their differences on the dartboard and that their interactions behind the scenes have been normal, focusing on their preparations. While acknowledging differing opinions between them, Littler emphasized that both have moved forward in their performances on stage.
Despite facing some hostility from fans in Liverpool after securing a victory, Littler noted that the reception was milder compared to the previous boos he received in Rotterdam. Looking ahead to the upcoming matches in Aberdeen, Littler is set to compete against Josh Rock, while Van Veen will face Jonny Clayton.
