Amazon is set to introduce a new streaming device with enhanced features that surpass current models. The upcoming Fire TV Stick HD, priced at £39.99, is the latest entry-level device from the tech giant. Despite its lower price point, it boasts several improvements, including a slimmer and more sophisticated design compared to its predecessor.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is now 30% narrower, making it easier to fit behind TVs and more portable for users on the go. Notably, it can draw power from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.
According to Amazon, the Fire TV Stick HD is their thinnest streaming device yet, designed for Direct Power via the TV’s USB port to fit seamlessly behind a TV without requiring an additional power source.
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, this device provides instant access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. It includes a user-friendly remote with Alexa voice search and quick app launch buttons.
While the Fire TV Stick HD does not support 4K resolution, it offers full HD viewing, suitable for most households. Amazon boasts significant speed enhancements over previous HD models, with the new device being over 30% faster on average, leading to quicker startup and app access.
The device comes with the latest Fire operating system, delivering a cleaner interface, enhanced recommendations, and simplified content discovery. Scheduled for release on April 29th, the Fire TV Stick HD will be available for purchase at £39.99.
