The incident took place on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, where Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, was traveling in a Jeep on December 29. Reports indicate that the collision occurred when the Jeep struck a stationary truck. Joshua, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses, such as Adeniyi Orojo, recounted the details of the incident to the media, stating that Joshua was seated in a Lexus SUV with three other occupants when the crash took place. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the collision. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital following the accident.
