An attendee at the Coachella festival experienced a frightening incident resulting in a head injury. The festival participant was hurt when a heavy light fixture fell on them.
The incident occurred during a surprise set by DJ and producer John Summit at the Do LaB stage on Friday. A member of the audience was left with a bloody face after the light fixture dropped into the crowd midway through the performance.
A witness described the injured attendee as being in a chaotic state after the incident, with her head being cut open. Joey Freshour, a crowd member, recounted the scene on Instagram, mentioning how the light structure fell and struck the girl directly on the side of her head, causing a significant cut.
Freshour further explained in an interview with SFGate that nearby audience members signaled for medical assistance. Three men assisted in carrying the injured woman to the medical tent for necessary treatment.
In a video captured by Freshour, the fallen light fixture was visible on the ground, with cables still in place to support it. He suggested that the DJ was unaware of the incident and attributed it to strong winds, which also caused delays for Justin Bieber’s performance the following night.
Despite the windy conditions, Bieber faced criticism from fans for what was perceived as a lackluster performance. Some fans expressed disappointment at his subdued stage presence, as he sat on a stool browsing YouTube videos of his songs while playing a medley of his earlier music.
While some fans defended Bieber’s performance, labeling it as innovative, others criticized it as lazy. The varying opinions sparked debate among fans about the singer’s stage presence and creativity.
