Travelodge, a popular budget hotel chain, has recently updated its pet policy just in time for the upcoming peak travel season in May and summer. The chain now allows up to two domesticated animals, either cats or dogs, to accompany their owners in all rooms, including standard and SuperRooms.
Previously, Travelodge charged £20 per pet for the entire stay to cover the cost of additional cleaning. However, this fee has now been increased to £25 per stay. The hotel chain justified this adjustment by citing rising operational costs and the need to maintain quality services for guests traveling with pets.
A spokesperson for Travelodge explained that despite the price increase, the flat fee of £25 per pet for the entire duration of the stay remains competitive and offers value for pet owners. Customers making pet bookings will see the updated pricing on the website during the booking process.
Guests traveling with pets can add them to their booking as an extra cost during payment. While pets are welcome in rooms, they are not allowed in bar and restaurant areas. However, assistance dogs are exempt from any charges and are welcome at all Travelodge hotels.
In related news, a major European airline recently announced plans to allow dogs in the cabin, sparking a debate on the inclusion of pets in public spaces. Additionally, a recent survey revealed that a majority of dog owners base their holiday destinations on their pets’ preferences, with top dog-friendly travel spots in the UK including Devon and Cornwall.
Furthermore, the survey highlighted that most dog owners prioritize destinations with suitable areas for walking their pets. For many pet owners, the presence of dog-friendly rest stops along their travel routes is also a crucial factor in planning their vacations.
